WEAPON OF THE MIGHTY – Monday April 6th 2015

WEAPON OF THE MIGHTY Memorise: Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; Colossian 2:14 Read: John 3:1-5, Bible in one year: Zechariah 9-11, Matthew 15:1-31 God is a specialist in using people who the world has rejected. He picks up those who have been written off, polish them and turns them into great warriors of His kingdom. This is to let you know that it is not over with you yet. As long as you know whose report to believe, those who have written you off have made their greatest mistake. The name of Rahab, the harlot whose prostitution business was located where all eyes could see, was included in the genealogy of Jesus (Matthew 1:5-6). Uriah’s wife, an adulteress, was also mentioned. This is to let you know that God has a purpose for each and every one of us. His purpose can only come to pass when we accept the Lordship of Jesus. The moment Jesus come into your life, He blots out t...

DIVINE PROMOTION – Sunday April 5th 2015

DIVINE PROMOTION – Sunday April 5 th 2015 Memorise: For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. Psalm 75:6-7 Read: Psalm 105:16-22, Bible in one year: Zechariah 5:5-8:23, Matthew 14:13-36 Many people work hard and have nothing to show for it, while some others work, very little and succeed. When God is on your side, you will succeed. In Genesis 39:1-5, the Bible tells us about the experience of Joseph in Potiphar’s house: whatever he touched prospered because God was with him. If God is with you, no matter where you are operating or what you are doing, you will always succeed. Our God is good and gracious. He does many things to prove His divine power, and no one can question His decisions. This is why He is the sovereign God. It doesn’t matter how deep the valley you are in is, if God says He is going to do a new thing in your life, He can pick you up from that valley and set you ...

THE NEW ANOINTING DEMONSTRATED – Saturday April 4th 2015

THE NEW ANOINTING DEMONSTRATED  Memorise: And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. Isaiah 10:27 Read: Luke 5:1-11, Bible in one year: Zechariah 1:1-5:4, Matthew 13:45-14:12 Just one encounter with the Holy Spirit can change your life. When Jesus Christ stepped into the life of Peter, his life never remained the same again. On that particular day, several yokes were broken in Peter’s life. The first one was the yoke of failure. A fisherman who catches no fish is a failure. You may have failed before now, but the moment the new anointing comes upon your life, you will become an all-round success. The second yoke broken in peter’s life was the yoke of poverty. The moment the Anointed One got into his boat, his boat began to sink with blessings. For a reader of this devotional, God will embarrass you with His blessings. God is His own ...

BENEFITS OF THE NEW ANOINTING – Friday April 3rd 2015

BENEFITS OF THE NEW ANOINTING Memorise: But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. 1 st John 2:27 Read: Exodus 40:9-15, Bible in one year: Haggai 1-2, Matthew 13:24-44 The anointing should occupy a prominent place in the life of every child of God. When God grants you the anointing, several benefits are attached to it. He gives His anointing in order to add value, not just to your life, but also to the lives of everyone you come in contact with. The benefits of the new anointing are so many that they cannot be for those who are lazy. You must have worked, prayed and studied hard before you can receive such anointing. The new anointing is an uncommon anointing; it is not what you find on the surface; you must dig for it. When Elisha was desperate for the new anointing, the other sons of the...

THE NEW ANOINTING – Thursday April 2nd 2015

THE NEW ANOINTING Memorise: Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Hebrews 1:9 Read: psalm 23:5-6, Bible in one year: Zephaniah 1:3; Matthew 13:1-23 The anointing launches a person into the realm of miraculous (Act 10:38). Maintaining the kind of anointing described in our memory verse requires the putting away of hindrance of its flow in our lives. Holiness is a prerequisite of the new anointing. When the new anointing came into the new anointing. When the new anointing came into the life of Peter, he began to experience tremendous changes. The anointing put an instant end to a monotonous routine of waking up, eating, going to fish, coming back home, eating and sleeping. With the presence of the new anointing, everything changed in his life. His life became full of excitement from the moment the new anointing directed him to launch out into the deep (Luke 5:2-8). God will add new ex...

A NEW BEGINNING OF HEALTHY LIVING – Wednesday April 1st 2015

A NEW BEGINNING OF HEALTHY LIVING  Memorise: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 st Peter 2:24 Read: John 5:2-9, Bible in one year: Habakkuk 1:1-3:19, Matthew 12:33-50 It is God’s desire for the body of Christ to be strong physically. Believers are members of the body of Christ, and if any part of the body is diseased, the head will not be at ease. Jesus is our Head. He is not happy whenever we suffer in any part of our body. He has released the gift of healing so that we will be alright and happy. Joy comes with healthy living; there is no happiness in ill-health. This is why I know that anything in your body contrary to health living is destroyed now in Jesus’ Name. In Matthew 8:1-3, a leper came to Jesus and was healed when He touched him. According to John 9:1-7, after a man born blind met with Jesus, Jesus anointed his eyes with mud made from soil and ...

PROMPT OBEDIENCE – Tuesday March 31st 2015

PROMPT OBEDIENCE  Memorise: And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said unto him, Fellow me; and let the dead bury their body. Matthew 8:21-22 Read: 1 st Samuel 15:22-23, Bible in one year: Nahum 1-3, Matthew 12:9-32 In the service of God, sacrifice is good. God expects all His children to present their bodies as a living sacrifice to Him. He also expects our sacrifices to be holy and acceptable (Romans 12:1). However, He makes it clear that He prefers obedience to sacrifice. Jeremiah 7:23 says, “But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.” Obedience is the act of doing what one is told to do. In the spiritual sense, obedience is total submission to the written and spoken word of God. It is an express but conditional commandment of God. In Exodus 19:5, God instructed the Is...

GREAT EXPECTATIONS – Monday March 30th 2015

GREAT EXPECTATIONS   Memorise: But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 st Corinthians 2:9 Read: John 4:24-34, Bible in one year; Micah 5-7, Matthew 11:20-12:8 The scripture reading of today shows us a marked difference between the priorities of our Lord Jesus Christ and that of His disciples at a point in time. Many of us, like the disciples, are often engrossed with how to meet our physical, psychological and emotional needs. We are immersed in things which are ephemeral in nature. These include what to eat, what to drink, where to live, how to be clothed, how to take care of our immediate and distant families, how to stay health, how to be wealthy and how to be famous. Jesus assured His disciples that the Father knew their needs and would provide for them (Matthew 6:31-32). Moreover, He stressed what should be the topmost priority of all heaven-bound Christian...

EMMANUEL – Sunday March 29th 2015

EMMANUEL  Memorise: Thus saith the LORD of hosts; in those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you. Zechariah 8:23 Read: Matthew 1:18-25;  Bible in one year: Micah 1-4, Matthew 10:40-11:19 One reason why the Holy Spirit caused the Gospel of Matthew to be written is to show that Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament prophesies concerning the Messiah. One of such prophesies is found in Isaiah 7:14n which says, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” This prophecy was shown to be fulfilled by Jesus in our Bible reading today. One of the key points of this prophecy is that Jesus will be referred to as Emmanuel. The name Emmanuel means “God with us”. There is nothing as good as when God is with a person. God is the et...

IMPULSIVE PRAISE – Saturday March 28th 2015

IMPULSIVE PRAISE Memorise: And Mary said, my soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Luke 1:46-47 Read: Acts 3:6-9, Bible in one year: Obadiah 1- Jonah 4, Matthew 10:16-39 Praise can be described as a spontaneous outburst of thanksgiving by a grateful child of God in God’s presence. When a person knows God and experiences Him intimately, he or she sings to the Lord with deepest praise! Our God is praiseworthy. He dwells in the praises of His children. Christ came so that men would be able to praise God in holiness and truth. The woks of Jesus caused men to rejoice and praise God. Luke 19:37 reports that: “And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all mighty works that they had seen;” God created us to praise Him. This will be our activity when we are gathered around His throne in Heaven. No true child of God should have difficult...

THE MARKS OF THE LORD JESUS – Friday March 27th 2015

THE MARKS OF THE LORD JESUS   Memorise: From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. Galatians 6:17 Read: 1 st Timothy 6:11-14, Bible in one year: Amos 7:9; Matthew 9:27-10:15 A mark can be described as an impression, a distinguishing trait or quality. Marks indicate characteristics or symbols used for identification or indication of ownership. All heaven-bound Christians are children of God and by implication, belong to Christ (Mark 9:41, Romans 8:16). What are the marks of the Lord Jesus? One distinguishing trait or quality that indicates one’s ownership by the Lord Jesus is faithfulness. Everyone belonging to Christ is expected to be faithful in prayer, in tithes and offerings, in studying the word of God, in their marital relationship, general human relations and in service to God. Are you a child of God? Be faithful to God, yourself and others. Your faithfulness allows God to reveals greater insights to you. Faithfulness beings opp...

ENJOYING LONGEVITY – Thursday March 26th 2015

ENJOYING LONGEVITY  Memorise: For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. 1 st Timothy 4:8 Read: 1 st Thessalonians 5:23-24, Bible in one year: Amos 4:6-6:14, Matthew 9:9-26 Every rational being wishes to be healthy, wealthy, fulfilled and enjoy longevity. The desire to live long and be healthy is scriptural. Psalm 91:16 says, “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” Man is a tripartite being. The Bible teaches that man consists of the spirit, soul and body. God is interested in our good health (3 rd John 1:2). He desires for us to be sound and complete in our spirit, soul and body. The working of wholeness in man starts in his spirit. It begins when God touches our spirit by the Holy Ghost (1 st Corinthians 12:3). Has your spirit been touched by Holy Spirit? The first miracle God does is to liberate man’s spirit from sin. He justifies us from sin a...

RENEWING THE MIND – Wednesday March 25th 2015

RENEWING THE MIND Memorise: And be not confronted to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 Read: 1 st Corinthians 2:9-14, Bible in one year: Amos 1:1-4:5, Matthew 8:18-9:8 One striking things about holiness is that it is what makes God who He is. If a human being was asked this question: “Who is God?”, you might get answer like: God is love, God is powerful, God is merciful, God is faithful etc. But if angels or celestial beings were asked this same question, they would chorus: God is Holy! The theme of the songs of celestial beings in heaven is the holiness of God (Isaiah 6:2-3, Revelation 4:8). Do you belong to God? Then be prepared to live holy. Why? God’s people are a holy temple to Him (1 st Corinthians 3:17). We are called to a holy priesthood (1 st Peter 2:5), and we were described as holy brethren (Hebrews 3:1). The Father chose His own, so that they might be ...

ATTITUDES TO WORSHIP – Tuesday March 24th 2015

ATTITUDES TO WORSHIP  Memorise: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24 Read: Isaiah 40:12-22, Bible in one year: Joel 1-3, Matthew 7:24-8:17 Prayers involves much more than asking God for our heart desires. It also involves praises and worship, both of which are very much related. While praise acknowledges God for what He has done, worship acknowledges God for who He is. We need to understand that God expects all creatures to worship Him (Revelations 5:13). No matter what or who they are, as far as they exist, God expects them to worship Him. Pretty much everybody in existence has received something from God (Acts 17:28). However, only those who acknowledge what they have received as coming from God can be deemed worshippers. Among this group of people, there are those who feel contented with what they have received from God. If you are in this category, praise and worship God. On the other hand, there are those who feel they h...

KEYS TO ANSWERED PRAYER – Monday March 23rd 2015

KEYS TO ANSWERED PRAYER  Memorised: O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. Psalm 65:2 Read: Matthew 7:7-11, Bible in one year: Hosea 11:14, Matthew 7:1-23 If Christians can master the art and practice of prayer, this world will definitely become a battle place to live in for them. Someone described prayer as a paradox. It is both simple and complex. It is the simplest form of speech that infant lips can try, and the sublime strains that reach the Majesty on high. What is prayer? John Bunyan, while in Bedford Prison, defined prayer as “a sincere, sensible, affectionate pouring out of the heart or soul to God, through Christ, in the strength and assistance of the Holy Spirit, for such things as God had promised according to the Word for the good of the Church, with submission, in faith, to the will of God.” Our God is a prayer-answering God. It is God’s will to answer the prayer of His children. However, He operates on principles. There are conditions which activ...

DO YOU HAVE TRUE LOVE – Sunday March 22nd 2015

DO YOU HAVE TRUE LOVE  Memorise: Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, eudureth all things. 1 st Corinthians 13:7 Read: 1 st Corinthians 13:1-13, Bible in one year: Hosea 6:10, Mathew 6:16-34 Our God is wonderful, and He has many wonderful attributes. Some of these attributes are unique to Him alone. For example, in all of heaven and earth, God is the only one who is all-knowing, all-powerful and is present everywhere. However, there are other attributes which God, as a wonderful Father, shares with His children. Some of such attributes are holiness, mercy, faithfulness and love. These attributes are scarce in the character of present-day society. Just like the Corinthians in the days of Paul, many homes, communities and churches nowadays are torn apart by contentions, are divided along party lines and are envious of each other. Such character proves that the love for God and love towards fellow man is wanting. Love is paramount to God. Our numerous gifts a...

SIN-DOMINATED? – Saturday March 21st 2015

SIN-DOMINATED?  Memorise: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:14 Read: Romans 6:1-6, Bible in one year: Hosea 1-5, Matthew 5:43-6:15 Mankind is the epitome of God’s creative art. He was created by God to have dominion over all things (Genesis 1:26). God did not design man for sin, neither should sin have dominion over man (Romans 6:14). Sin is an enemy. Sin seeks to rob us of every good thing God has designed for us. It is very subtle, bringing death and creeping into our lives when and where we least expect it. It packages itself so attractively that we are lured into thinking that it cannot really harm us. Sin in undoubtedly a weight. In Hebrews 12:1, Christians are likened to sprinters: “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” The competition b...

SANCTIFICATION PRECEDES DIVINE COMMISSIONING – Friday March 20th 2015

SANCTIFICATION PRECEDES DIVINE COMMISSIONING  Memorise: If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. 2 nd Timothy 2:21 Read: John 17:13-19, Bible in one year: Daniel 11:12, Matthew 5:21-42 The most important thing a person needs is to be born-again (John 3:3). From personal experience and from the experience of others, certain things give you the assurance that you are born-again. If you are born-again, you stop thinking about yourself alone. You stop thinking only about what Jesus can do for you but also of what you can do for Jesus. This was the case with Paul after he met the Lord in Act 9:6: “And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.” You also begin to think about restitution (Luke 19:8), and you begin to serve God with the same vigour...

SATAN’S ATTACK OR THE LORD’S CHASTENING? – Thursday March 19th 2015

SATAN’S ATTACK OR THE LORD’S CHASTENING?   Memorise: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Hebrews 12:6 Read; Hebrews 12:4-6, Bible in one year: Daniel 9:10, Matthew 4:23-5:20 Christians are spiritual soldiers. We engage in constant warfare against principalities, powers and wicked spiritual forces that operate in high places. Ephesians 6:12 says that: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” There is a tendency among Christians therefore to view anything unpleasant that happens to them as emanating from spiritual warfare. When a difficult suitation arises, many immediately ask God to remove their distress. It is worth noting that not all problems that we face as believers have something to do with the devil or the spiritual warfare we are engaged in. In Galatians 6:7, the Scripture says, “Be not...

LIVING BY VISION & REVELATION – Wednesday March 18th 2015

LIVING BY VISION & REVELATION  Memorise: After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. Genesis 15:1 Read: Genesis 41:38-43, Bible in one year: Daniel 7:9-8:27, Matthew 4:1-22 Vision is the strategy of progress and a determinant of destiny. Vision is no doubt one of the most powerful forces available to man on earth today. It gives meaning to life, keeps us alive and conditions our lives. Visions inspired the Greeks to produce philosophy and art that still impacts the thinking of our world. It motivated the great Roman Empire to expand its influence and develop the known world. Vision inspired the explorers who circumvented the globe and ignited the creation and expansion of many of the nations we know today. It is your vision that determines your destiny. Proverbs 29:18 says, “When there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepth the law, happy is he.” True vision is not b...

LEADERSHIP BY EXAMPLE- Tuesday March 17th 2015

LEADERSHIP BY EXAMPLE Memorise: If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. John 13:14 Read: Daniel 2:46-49, Bible in one year: Daniel 5:13-7:8, Matthew 2:19-3:17 Daniel purposed in his heart not to partake of the king’s meat (Daniel 1:8). He denied himself all the goodies associated with classical palatial living because he wanted to make a difference among his peers. Anyone who aspire to be a leader must be self-disciplined, carefully choose the kind of people he or she associates with and must consciously cultivate habits that will distinguish him or her Like Daniel, leaders must fear God and be prayerful, respect authority, be diligent testimonies, young David was diligent in keeping his father’s flock, and God rewarded him with a kingdom (1 st Samuel 17:34-35). The way Joshua and Caleb delivered a minority report after returning from their assignment is a good example of how to have the right attitude when confronted with chal...

A FRIEND OF GOD?- Monday March 16th 2015

A FRIEND OF GOD?-  Memorise: Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:14 Read: John 15:13-15, Bible in one year: Daniel 4:4-5:12, Matthew 2:1-18 There are believers who know God, and there are those who claim to know God. Those who are friends of God will go all the way to do as He commands, no matter the sacrifice and pain required. In Genesis 5:22-24, it was repeated twice that Enoch walked with God. He walked with God to the point of no return. The friendship was so tight that God had to tell him, “There is no point remaining on earth again; let us continue our friendship in heaven” God and Enoch were lovebirds. A young boy in a Sunday School class gave an interesting perspective of this friendship. The boy said, whenever God visited Enoch and He was about to leave, Enoch will escort God, and when it was time for Enoch to return home, God would do the same. Eventually, one day, after several repetitions of this exercise, Enoch escorted God so close to Heaven...

A MORE EXCELLENT NAME - Sunday March 15th 2015

A MORE EXCELLENT NAME  Memorise: Being made so much better than the angles, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. Hebrews 1:4 Read: Acts 4:6-12, Bible in one year: Daniel 2:31-4:3, Matthew 1 Whenever brand names are mentioned in the society, people know without wasting time what they represent. These serve as the identity of the entity they represent. With this in mind, let us look at the Name of Jesus. The Name of Jesus has several significant attributes. One of these is that it carries power. This power is so special because it is unlimited. The Name of Jesus has the answer to every difficulty of life. It is the only Name through which salvation can be guaranteed (Acts 4:12). The Name of Jesus grants you access to His person (Mark 10:47-49). This special access will turn your life around. If there is any reason why many people are going round in circles, or things seem not to be working for them despite their efforts, it is because of the abse...
