Open Heaven for Today 26 January 2018: Friday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Fruit of the spirit IV
Memorise: But without faith it
is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,
and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6
2:9 But as it is written,
Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man,
the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
2:10 But God hath revealed
them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep
things of God.
2:11 For what man knoweth
the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things
of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
2:12 Now we have received,
not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know
the things that are freely given to us of God.
2:13 Which things also we
speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost
teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
2:14 But the natural man
receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto
him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Message
I
trust God that over the past few days of our study on the fruit of the Spirit,
your relationship with the Holy Spirit has been revolutionised. Yesterday, we
reflected on gentleness and goodness, and today by God’s grace we will reflect
on faith and meekness. Open Heavens 25 January 2018. What is faith? In simple terms, faith is taking God at
His word and accepting His verdict in all situations. Let’s consider what the
Holy Spirit has to say about faith in Hebrews 11:6:
“But with faith it is impossible
to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he
is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
What
is meekness? When someone has the power to retaliate a wrong done against him
or her but decides to let go in the spirit of forgiveness: that is meekness. Open heaven today. A
commander-in-chief who is insulted and laughs it off with the sincerity it
takes to forgive and forget can be said to be meek. This character trait is
necessary for peace to reign in the Body of Christ and for her to be one. If
Christians manifest this nature and engage in governance, the world would be at
peace. The meekness of our Lord Jesus Christ is perfectly described as a
signpost for us in Isaiah 53:7:
“He was oppressed, and he was
afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the
slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his
mouth.”
May
the Lord make you an embodiment of faith and meekness in Jesus’ Name.
Prayer Point
Sweet Holy Spirit, You are my
Teacher; teach me to rise above the limitations of my senses into the realms of
faith, and help me to operate in Your Power with meekness.

HOUR
1. I need
Thee every hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford.

Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Every

Oh,
bless me now, my Savior!
I come
to Thee
2. I need
Thee every hour,
Stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their power
When Thou art nigh.
3. I need
Thee every hour,
In joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide,
Or life is vain.
4. I need
Thee every hour,
Teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises
In me fulfil.
1.
I need Thee every hour
Most Holy One;
Oh, make me Thine Indeed,
Thou blessed Son.
